2024 Mid-Year Update

Second Half of Year Off to a Strong Start

With one of the busiest times of the year behind us, we wanted to share an update of what we’ve been up to during the first half of the year and highlight what’s ahead. As the market continues to be dynamic and competitive yet stable, we continue to be opportunistic where it makes good underwriting sense. Each segment presents unique challenges, but all continue to perform strongly, thanks to our exclusive focus on healthcare and our deep bench strength and expertise in this space. We’ve also seen new capacity enter the market, which we welcome as a sign of healthy competition and growth potential.

As we enter the second half of the year, we are as committed as we’ve ever been to being a resource for brokers—providing creative solutions when needed, while always being responsible, resourceful, and dedicated to providing answers to you quickly and efficiently. We look forward to connecting with you through education, conferences, events, and smaller meetings. And as always, we thank you for your continued partnership and trust in us.

Managed Care 101—Training Opportunities for Brokers

Our Managed Care Underwriting team has hit the road, bringing their knowledge directly to brokers. While there are dedicated brokers who have extensive experience and expertise in this market, our team frequently fields questions and requests for more formal educational sessions from newer brokers or those whose primary business is not managed care. To address this need, our managed care underwriters created a comprehensive yet accessible high-level overview of the managed care product specifically for brokers.

This diverse presentation covers essential topics such as key coverages and features provided by a managed care policy, key theories of liability, distribution, appetite and submission information, and more. While thorough, it’s easily digestible and allows brokers to come away with a clear understanding of how managed care differs from traditional medical malpractice. Our goal is to boost brokers’ knowledge and confidence in navigating this intricate and often misunderstood product.

Sessions are done either virtually or in person, with about 90 minutes allocated for the presentation and discussion. We strive to provide specialized and attentive service to brokers. This training opportunity has allowed us to follow through on that goal and has proven to be beneficial to those who have engaged with us.

Data as a Risk Management Differentiator

Hospitals have a lot of data, but not always the right tools to analyze it. Data can help you understand your costs, losses, claims patterns, and patient safety risks. But you need insights to turn data into action. That's why we created a secure and innovative platform that combines different sources of data and gives you valuable insights. You can use these insights to improve your risk management strategies and reduce your claims costs.

Want to see how it works? Watch this short video and discover our data analytics services. We would love to speak with you more about how we can help you and our mutual clients use data to better manage risk. Contact our Business Development team to learn more.
